Zanka no Tachi, Higashi: Kyokujitsujin

Character

Zanka no Tachi, Higashi: Kyokujitsujin, or Rising Sun Edge, is the East ability of Yamamoto's Bankai. It packs every degree of his flames into the razor line of his blade, an edge that erases rather than burns whatever it meets.

Appearance

The technique switches on by itself the instant Zanka no Tachi is unsheathed. Rather than raging or flaring outward, all the sword's intense heat compresses down along the cutting edge, so no visible fire betrays its power.

Abilities

Anything the edge touches is wiped from existence, a fact Yamamoto shows by tearing a huge fissure into the ground with a light tap. Even the defensive Blut Vene of the Wandenreich offers no protection against it. The one catch is that contact must be direct: brushing only the fringe of Royd Lloyd's cloak produced nothing at all.

History

Higashi: Kyokujitsujin counts as one of the four cardinal abilities Zanka no Tachi grants, all keyed to the compass points. Yamamoto brought it to bear during the Blood War against Royd Lloyd, who at the time wore the guise of the Quincy emperor Yhwach.
