Summary

Away on another front, Gin Ichimaru senses rage pouring off his lieutenant Izuru Kira, while Kaname Tosen worries about the underling he cast aside; Gin figures the abandonment only toughened the young man. Nearby, Abirama Redder unleashes his released form Aguila. The heart of the hour, though, belongs to Yumichika Ayasegawa and Charlotte Chuhlhourne, who trade barbs between sword swings until they strike a grim wager: the first of them to fall will be branded the ugly one, and Charlotte drops the clowning.

He announces a preposterously long-winded strike and hammers Yumichika into the dirt, then shrugs off a counter aimed at his back. The two resume bickering over Charlotte's absurd naming habits and his seaweed-like locks, and when a few strands drop loose, wounded pride pushes Charlotte to release his Resurreccion, Reina De Rosas. The gaudy new form leaves Yumichika howling with laughter, much to Charlotte's outrage; the cackling carries far enough that Ikkaku Madarame, mid-fight with Choe Neng Poww, pauses in confusion.

Charlotte's speed jumps sharply, and a Sonido-charged blow slams Yumichika into a pillar, splintering his arm in several places. Driven to ground level, Yumichika calls out his Zanpakuto as Fuji Kujaku, yet his cuts glance off harmlessly. Charlotte answers with another ornately titled Cero before invoking Rosa Blanca, wrapping them both in blackness lit only by a single white rose overhead. He promises Yumichika will smother there, hidden, with no trace of Reiatsu leaking out. That seclusion is exactly what Yumichika wanted. Thanking his foe, he discloses the genuine name of his sword, Ruri'iro Kujaku, whose edge erupts into glowing feather-like tendrils that snare Charlotte while blossoms open along the vines to drink in his energy, a power he had kept hidden until no one could see it.
