Gin Ichimaru's Shadow

In the Seireitei, Byakuya walks away after delivering Rukia's execution sentence and is stopped by Gin, who lounges with Kenpachi and praises the captain's composure with thinly veiled mockery. Byakuya and Kenpachi trade sharp barbs until the tension nearly ignites, at which point Gin bundles the bound Kenpachi away to defuse the standoff, sending his regards to Rukia as he leaves.

Beneath the Urahara Shop, Ichigo flees Urahara, who reveals his cane conceals a genuine blade and releases his own weapon to prove it. He shatters Ichigo's bloated, hollow sword, exposing that it held no real spiritual substance, and threatens to kill him if he keeps swinging a useless hilt. Cornered and terrified, Ichigo is pulled into his inner world, where Zangetsu urges him to cast off fear and call the blade's name. Ichigo manifests his true weapon and unleashes a moon-fang blast that carves a massive chasm, clearing the third lesson.

Days later, after a fireworks festival with family and friends, Ichigo answers Urahara's summons and finds Sado, Uryū, and Orihime already gathered, each having trained in secret. Yoruichi, still in cat form, startles him by speaking. Urahara pushes Ichigo's soul from his body and reveals a modified gate to the Soul Society, warning the group they have only four minutes to pass through or be trapped forever. Guided by Yoruichi, Ichigo and his friends charge into the opening portal.

Gin defuses a near-clash between Byakuya and Kenpachi in the Seireitei. Urahara shatters Ichigo's false blade, and Zangetsu guides Ichigo to manifest his true Zanpakutō, clearing the final lesson with a powerful moon-fang blast. Uryū and Sado complete their own training. Ichigo answers Urahara's summons to find his friends ready to join him. Urahara opens a modified gate to the Soul Society, warns of a four-minute limit, and the group enters with Yoruichi as their guide.

The episode adapts Chapters 65 through 70 in the Agent of the Shinigami arc, concluding the trials beneath the Urahara Shop and setting the rescue party on its way. Its anime notes catalog several removed manga beats, expanded festival scenes, and minor visual changes, including toned-down blood and altered clothing. The next-episode preview teases the gatekeeper giant Jidanbō awaiting Ichigo at the entrance to the Seireitei.
