Summary

Rurichiyo Kasumiōji unexpectedly turns up in Ichigo Kurosaki's classroom, having slipped away from her palace duties for a taste of the Human World. On the school roof she gushes about the freedom she feels here, but Ichigo reminds her that a clan head cannot simply abandon her responsibilities, and the two part on sour terms. When she vanishes again, Ichigo, Rukia, Orihime, and Sado scour the town before Uryū steers them to the Urahara Shop, where the runaway noble has been waiting.

The real friction surfaces once Kenryū appears outside the Kurosaki Clinic and scolds his mistress for wandering off. Their dispute traces back to Rurichiyo's wish to stage a kemari event, an idea she borrowed after watching soccer among the living, while Kenryū insists the shaken clan should be mending ties with other nobles instead. Cornered into taking sides, Ichigo refuses, and a wounded Kenryū walks away after Rurichiyo declares she cannot stand him.

Convinced only a drastic gesture will reunite them, Kenryū stages a mock suicide by the riverbank, with Enryū playing along. Rurichiyo, nearly struck by a truck and saved by Enryū, races over and slaps her attendant for imagining his death would please her. The reconciliation turns competitive when Kenryū mocks kemari as childish, goading her into settling the matter with a match whose loser must never argue with the winner again.

Notes
