Marching Out the ZOMBIES

Uryū rides a pillar of light out of the Seireitei alongside Yhwach and Haschwalth, ignoring Ichigo's demands for an answer as the resulting shockwave scatters everyone. Orihime shields her friends, and once the dust clears Ichigo admits he foresaw Uryū's defection, since a war would inevitably set Shinigami and Quincy against each other. Still determined to drag his friend back for an explanation, Ichigo accepts Urahara's offer of a ride to the Soul King Palace.

Underground, Urahara reveals a single-use replica of Kūkaku's launching cannon, its base secretly begun by Mayuri, and explains that its fuel will come from the mysterious distortions the Quincy left in the Human World, which Yoruichi and the Visored have bottled. Across the ruined city, Byakuya is cornered by NaNaNa, Candice, and Robert, Renji refuses Bazz-B's offer to jointly hunt Uryū, and Ikkaku and Yumichika face Giselle Gewelle, who fights through a zombified Bambietta Basterbine.

After Yumichika severs Bambietta's arm, Mayuri arrives with Nemu, delighted by Giselle's power. He neutralizes Bambietta's living-bomb volleys with his Reishi-suspension devices, prompting Giselle to raise dozens of zombified Eleventh Division Shinigami. In answer, Mayuri unveils his own Corpse Unit, the revived Arrancar Charlotte, Luppi, Cirucci, and Dordoni. As Charlotte overwhelms Bambietta and blasts her skyward with his absurdly named Cero, Giselle summons a zombified Hitsugaya in Wandenreich colors, stunning everyone present.

Uryū leaves for the Soul King Palace, and Ichigo admits he anticipated the betrayal. Urahara reveals the replica cannon and the distortion energy that will power it. Byakuya, Renji, and the Eleventh Division engage the remaining Sternritter. Mayuri enters the fray against Giselle and deploys his Corpse Unit of resurrected Arrancar. A zombified Hitsugaya appears to turn the Battle of the Zombies.

Set within the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, this episode draws on chapters 587 through 591. Its opening is STARS and its ending is Endroll. The adaptation adds flashbacks of Uryū aiding his friends and softens Sado's manga action of hurling Ichigo into a building. Streaming subtitles also toned down Yumichika's cruder taunt about Giselle's true sex.
