The fifteenth Thousand-Year Blood War episode opens the Wandenreich's second strike on the Seireitei, pairing captains against the Sternritter who stole their Bankai as Hitsugaya and Suì-Fēng prove they can still fight without it.
A flashback shows Jugram Haschwalth briefing the Sternritter on Yhwach's plan to crush the captains' pride alongside their stolen Bankai. In the present the invaders reappear inside the Seireitei's shadows, and Yhwach recounts how the Quincy built their hidden empire over a thousand years. Haschwalth calls on Shunsui Kyōraku and Nanao Ise, who has walled him off with a barrier that neutralizes Quincy powers, while Askin Nakk Le Vaar meets an unexpectedly prepared Mayuri Kurotsuchi, whose laboratory now casts no shadow at all.
The heaviest fighting falls to two captains stripped of their Bankai. Tōshirō Hitsugaya and Rangiku Matsumoto combine ice and ash into a layered vacuum wall that stops Bazz-B's flames, and Hitsugaya pins him with a hollow ice blade, though Bazz-B soon melts free and burns through the captain with his Burner Finger attacks before Cang Du arrives to claim the kill. Nearby, Suì-Fēng shields Marechiyo Ōmaeda and his sister from BG9, unveiling her perfected Mukyū Shunkō, only for the mechanical Sternritter to survive and engulf her in a massive explosion. Askin warns Mayuri that every battle is still unfolding exactly as Yhwach predicted, and Urahara contacts Mayuri with news that he has finished a method to restore Bankai. Elsewhere, Ichigo trudges through the crushing weight of the Irazu Sandō as Ichibe'e recites a grim poem.
The Wandenreich begin their second invasion by materializing within the Seireitei's shadows. Hitsugaya and Rangiku conclude their fight with Bazz-B, who then overpowers Hitsugaya before Cang Du steps in. Suì-Fēng debuts her perfected Mukyū Shunkō against BG9. Urahara informs Mayuri that he has completed a way to reclaim Bankai.
Episode 381, the fifteenth Thousand-Year Blood War installment, adapts chapters 547 through 551 and pairs the opening STARS with the ending Endroll. Its title poem is attributed to Bambietta Basterbine. The adaptation reassigns the explanation of the vacuum ice wall to Rangiku and expands scenes of Ichigo's royal training within the Irazu Sandō.
