Shock! The True Characters of the Fathers

After Ryūken annihilates both halves of the Menos Grande with single arrows, a stunned Uryū demands to know why his father secretly retains Quincy power. Ryūken, heir to Sōken Ishida's legacy, offers to restore the abilities Uryū lost in Soul Society, but only on the condition that his son sever all ties with the Shinigami. A flashback to Uryū's boyhood training under Sōken underscores the weight of the pledge.

Across town, Kon flees through Karakura in Ichigo's body while Grand Fisher hunts him, mistaking him for the real Ichigo. Ririn, Kurōdo, and Noba try to help with teleportation and illusions before the Hollow breaks free. Just as Grand Fisher moves to crush Kon, Isshin arrives in a Shinigami uniform, revealing he has long known Kon's true identity. Grand Fisher swells into a bestial Arrancar form and boasts that his enormous Zanpakutō guarantees victory, but Isshin fells him with a single stroke of Agitowari, lecturing the dying Hollow that a blade's size is no measure of strength.

Ryūken Ishida reveals himself as an active Quincy, destroying the Menos Grande, and offers to restore Uryū's powers if he abandons the Shinigami. Kon flees Grand Fisher in Ichigo's body with help from the Mod-Souls. Isshin Kurosaki reveals he is a Shinigami, confronts Grand Fisher, who transforms into an Arrancar, and kills him with a single Agitowari strike.

Covering the Arrancar arc, the episode adapts Chapter 186 and Chapter 187. Its picture-book short pokes fun at the dull lieutenants Chōjirō, Marechiyo, and Iba, whom Yachiru cheerfully labels as such. Featured techniques include the Heilig Pfeil, Grand Fisher's Oppression and transformation, and Isshin's Zanjutsu finisher, Agitowari.
