Gameplay

Fights play out one on one across a three-dimensional space with movement that mostly stays on a two-dimensional line, and characters can rise into midair by gathering Reishi under their feet. A rock-paper-scissors style counter system decides which attack types beat others, while a Reishi gauge powers special moves and players wear down an opponent's Konpaku health, landing decisive finishers at vulnerable moments. The base roster holds 33 characters, with more added through downloadable content.

Story

The campaign traces the anime's storyline from Ichigo Kurosaki becoming a substitute Soul Reaper through the Fake Karakura Town arc, spread across several maps that each map to a major arc. Optional secret missions widen the focus beyond Ichigo, giving other members of the cast their own perspectives on the events.

Reviews land in mixed to average territory. IGN gives it a 7 out of 10 and credits Tamsoft's push for deeper combat, while OpenCritic shows a recommend rate near 47 percent. Critics praise the stylish presentation and layered mechanics but fault an uneven story mode and thin online play, including missing ranked matches at launch. In Japan, the PlayStation 5 version sells about 6,079 physical copies in its debut week.
