The Jōkaishō are colossal Reishi-generating devices built long ago by scientists of the Seireitei. Created to fuel forbidden immortality research, one of them melted down in a catastrophe that gave rise to the Bount.
Each Jōkaishō is an enormous power source that produces spirit particles on a massive scale, shaped like a giant inverted red egg laced with vein-like patterns and tethered to the surrounding walls by dozens of cables. A glowing red Bount emblem sits atop the structure. Ran'Tao and her team of Shinigami researchers raised many of the devices across the Seireitei to drive their experiments.
The machines were meant to power an effort to engineer an immortal life form, with the researchers relying on artificial souls modeled on their own rather than human ones. A Bount can absorb a unit's energy into their body through a special chant. After roughly a day of letting that power settle, they gain the means to detonate the other devices scattered around the city and to fuel their spiritual attacks with the borrowed energy in place of their own Reiryoku, boosting their strength.
The devices were the work of Ran'Tao's group and were later sealed away by the Kidō Corps on orders from the Central 46, hidden beneath ordinary buildings after a meltdown wiped out a tenth of the Seireitei and spawned the Bount. Generations later, Jin Kariya tracks one down and drinks in its power, aiming to level the Seireitei by triggering a chain reaction, only to be stopped by Ichigo Kurosaki before he can set off any of them.

Five Bleach female characters, ranked and settled. Yoruichi sits at number five, the spot nobody expects, and our number one is an Arrancar with a soft heart....

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....

Generations after the meltdown, Jin Kariya tracks down a Jokaisho and drinks in its power, aiming to level the Seireitei by triggering a chain reaction. Ichigo Kurosaki stops him before he can set off any of the devices. The Jokaisho appear only in the anime.
