Overview

Kojaku, meaning Arc Sparrow, is the reishi bow carried by the Quincy Uryū Ishida. Like all Quincy weapons it is shaped from spiritual particles rather than smithed, and its scale swells or shrinks with the amount of energy Uryū feeds through it. A single shot is usually enough to bring down most Hollows.

Function

Uryū draws Reishi from his surroundings and forms it into arrows, his Heilig Pfeil, which can even split apart in flight to hit several targets at once. After he masters the Sanrei Glove, the bow turns solid and patterned, tethered to the glove by slender struts and able to loose several arrows together; casting the glove aside unlocks the Quincy: Letzt Stil, a surge of power great enough to drop a Bankai-wielding captain in one shot, though it afterward seals his Quincy abilities away. His restored bow, Ginrei Kojaku, gained with his father's aid, is woven like a spider's web and can fire as many as 1,200 shots in succession, supporting tricks such as ricocheting arrows around corners and the volley technique Licht Regen. Later still he develops a smaller model, Sasame Kojaku, modeled after his father's own bow.

Notable Users

The bow belongs to Uryū Ishida alone, and its successive forms chart his growth as a Quincy, from his first skirmishes with Hollows in Karakura Town through the campaigns against the Arrancar and, seventeen months later, the Wandenreich.
