Ichigo scrambles to survive Ururu's devastating blows and, almost without noticing, clears his first lesson, only for Urahara to sever his lifeline and fling him straight into the next trial as his friends seek out training of their own.
Emerging shaken from the dust of Ururu's opening strike, Ichigo grabs the protective headgear and keeps his distance, awed by the raw force behind her punches. Only after a fumbling, mortifying attempt to switch on the gear with a ridiculous chant does he find a rhythm, first fleeing outright, then realizing he can outrun her and slip past her fists. He works his way inside her guard and finally grazes her cheek, but the moment blood appears she counters coldly, kicking him into a rock wall.
Certain he has failed, Ichigo asks for another try, only to be told he has already passed. Urahara reminds him the goal was simply to remain standing after the first blow, not to defeat a girl whose combat skill rivals a Soul Reaper's. The real aim was survival, he explains: spiritual power surges fastest when a soul is thrown into mortal danger, so Ichigo would either awaken enough energy to dodge or die trying. Since his strength plainly rose, the lesson is finished.

Five Bleach female characters, ranked and settled. Yoruichi sits at number five, the spot nobody expects, and our number one is an Arrancar with a soft heart....

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....
When Urahara proposes moving on to celebrate, Ichigo assumes a meal is coming, only for Tessai to swing an axe and sever his Chain of Fate, launching him directly into the second lesson. Across town, Orihime and Sado wonder what training could possibly involve, and Yoruichi warns them that anyone determined to reach Soul Society will need it, and that the coming lessons are not for the timid. The chapter was adapted into episode 18, Reclaim! The Power of the Shinigami.
