Ichigo and Kenpachi lie side by side, both drenched in their own blood, as Yachiru Kusajishi steps up and bows to the young intruder, thanking him for being the first foe in ages to bring her captain joy. Slinging Kenpachi across her shoulders, she asks Ichigo to live and return for a rematch, then bounds up between two towers as he too slips into unconsciousness.

A memory surfaces of a younger Kenpachi seated among slain Souls, approached by a tiny Yachiru who grins and grasps his bloodied blade without fear. He warns that the weapon could kill her, but she only smiles wider, and when he asks her name and gets none, he realizes she has no more of a name than he does. In the present, Kenpachi wakes to find her celebrating, having summoned the Fourth Division captain to treat him. Told Ichigo likely survived, he announces his intent to repay the loss, and Yachiru, insisting he never truly lost since his opponent had the sword spirit's help, slaps him for laughing it off.

Turning his thoughts to the day he chose her name, Kenpachi lifts his shattered sword and bleeds anew, confessing how long it has been since he ached over having no name of his own. He named the child after the only person he ever looked up to and took Kenpachi for himself from the title borne by the strongest Shinigami. Asking his silent blade to finally speak its name and receiving nothing, he shouts his hunger to grow stronger now that he has found someone worth fighting. Yachiru recalls her own nameless, parentless start in the seventy-ninth district, a world she knew only by the red of blood until he arrived from the eightieth and cut it open to give her an identity, and she vows to grow beside him even as her worried calls go unanswered. Elsewhere, Ganju Shiba and the Fourth Division's Hanataro Yamada ready a grappling hook to leap toward the tower, while Yoruichi Shihoin reaches the fallen Ichigo.

Yachiru thanks and carries Kenpachi from the battlefield, urging Ichigo to survive. A flashback shows their first meeting, both of them nameless, in the outer districts of the Rukongai. Waking under Yachiru's care, Kenpachi reflects on the origin of both their names and roars his renewed desire for strength. Ganju and Hanataro prepare their final approach to Senzaikyu as Yoruichi arrives to recover Ichigo.

The chapter's Japanese title translates as Everything Relating to the Crumbling World, the wording Viz Media used for its English release. It closes the thirteenth volume and was adapted into the anime episode The Shinigami whom Ganju Met. The flashback fills in the shared past of Kenpachi Zaraki and his lieutenant within the ongoing Soul Society arc.
