With the rescuers scattered down five separate corridors, Nel darts after the one Ichigo took, chasing more of the fun she found on the journey, while Pesche and Dondochakka realize too late that they cannot tell which passage she chose. Near Orihime's chamber, Ulquiorra recalls the girl pledging her body and spirit to Aizen after only a heartbeat of hesitation. Nnoitra Gilga saunters up to needle him about their 'pet,' but Ulquiorra brushes off the taunting and observes that Orihime fell under Aizen's control long before she ever set foot in Las Noches.

When Nnoitra guesses that Kyōka Suigetsu was involved, Ulquiorra corrects him and lays bare the real method: a many-layered cage of the mind. Orihime was ordered to come alone, warned that resistance would kill her friends, granted a twelve-hour reprieve, and allowed a single silent, unseen farewell. Each mercy was a manipulation, the grace period and the goodbye engineered to make her feel she chose her own path rather than being seized, until her will to flee collapsed and her departure looked to Soul Society like a willing betrayal. Ulquiorra concludes she has been abandoned, and dismisses the whole scheme as little more than a game Aizen would not have missed had it failed.

On her couch, Orihime relives the moment Loly and Menoly delivered her to Aizen, who sent the two away and unveiled the Hōgyoku from a rising column. He described the orb as weakened but steadily nearing its awakening, the key to both perfecting Arrancar and forging the Ōken, and asked her to lend him her rejection powers as proof of his trust. In the present she scorns that pretense of trust, seizing instead on what the meeting gave her: she now knows where the Hōgyoku rests and what her own abilities can undo. Thanking Ichigo for coming, she resolves to destroy the orb herself, unaware that Nel is stepping out of the shadows behind Ichigo as he races on.

The installment exposes the full mechanics of Orihime's abduction, reframing her apparent defection as calculated psychological warfare rather than a real change of heart. It confirms the Hōgyoku is present in Las Noches and central to Aizen's plans for both the Arrancar and the Ōken. Most importantly, Orihime commits to a new purpose, turning her captors' display of the orb into the seed of a plan to annihilate it.
