Not be a Drug

Once Orihime finishes a brief introduction, Ginjo waves it away and directs her to mend the heavily battered Ichigo, his own part of the session complete. As she works, Sado steps into the rendered world and tells Ichigo he arranged for her to come, since her healing will be indispensable from this point forward. Sado then informs Ginjo that he has not arrived to assist Ichigo directly but to drill in a harsher chamber that Yukio built for him at his request.

Growing impatient, Ginjo strikes at Ichigo in spite of Orihime's caution. She raises her Shiten Koshun, a shield that Ginjo misreads as her familiar Santen Kesshun, and the barrier hurls his own force back and wounds him. She then explains the technique and orders him to hold off until she gives the word.

Sado silently recalls how Tsukishima's cut tore from his shoulder down into his midsection without anyone sensing it and without leaving a single mark, steeling his determination to overcome that hidden power. Orihime, meanwhile, confides that she and Sado always trusted Ichigo would recover his abilities and vowed to grow strong enough to stop weighing him down, urging him to pour himself into reclaiming his strength.

In a brief aside, Urahara asks the visiting Shinigami to feed a portion of their Reiatsu into a glowing point of light. As midnight draws near, Yukio triggers the console's fast-forward.

The chapter appears in Volume 51, Love me Bitterly Loth me Sweetly, within the Lost Substitute Shinigami arc. It was adapted as Episode 356, Foe or Friend?! Ginjo's Unseen Heart! Orihime's Shiten Koshun makes its first showing here as a counter-oriented variant of her three-fairy shield.
