Five years of relentless forest training pass, yet Haschwalth still cannot gather Reishi or form a bow. Bazz-B, recalling a folk tale about a rare kind of Quincy born only once in decades and written off as failures, nearly abandons his partner as useless to his plan against Yhwach, but cannot walk away after seeing how much harder his friend trains than he ever admits.

The Lichtreich's military police, led by Huburt, ride into a village to announce Yhwach's new Sternritter order, raised to invade Soul Society. Bazz-B eagerly volunteers himself and Haschwalth, and when Huburt sneers that a nobody will never be chosen, Bazz-B challenges him, firing an arrow to spook his horse. Before the duel can start, Yhwach's crushing Reiatsu pins everyone to the ground. He announces he has come to claim his future lieutenant, and while Bazz-B assumes it is him, Yhwach instead walks to Haschwalth, names him, and declares the boy his other half.

The chapter closes Volume 69, AGAINST THE JUDGEMENT, in the Thousand-Year Blood War, and was adapted into Episode 404, FRIEND. It reveals Bazz-B as the son of a former regional lord and Haschwalth as the counterbalance to Yhwach's power.
