Charles Chevalier

Charles is a reasonably tall young man of slim build. His blonde hair, tipped with grey at the ends and topped by a stray tuft, falls to a medium length, and his large yellow eyes sit above a single prominent fang. Through the Neo Egoist League he wears the Paris X Gen strip with black gloves, and he keeps the same gloves on when he trades it for the France U-20 kit during the World Cup.

Charles carries himself with a bratty, dismissive air, never clearer than when he tries to slip out of Loki's lectures and, once caught, simply plugs his ears. He shows scant patience for the theory and structure behind football and would far rather improvise his way through a game, a habit of winging it so pronounced that even Loki has flagged it. By his own account he is a contrarian, someone who deliberately does the reverse of whatever he is told. He also thrives on risk, willing to attempt wildly bold passes even in matches with everything on the line. Against Bastard München he flung the ball toward Ryusei Shido on pure instinct, without any certainty Shido would be there to meet it, and that contrarian pass, married to Shido's hunger for pleasure, produced a Paris X Gen goal. Isagi reasoned it only came off because Charles had glimpsed the ideal play through his peak, ego-driven mindset.

Charles is a playmaker, the engine steering his team's attack through vision, control, creativity and delivery. He is treated as the core of PXG because he embodies its plays, and where most midfielders keep passes simple he delights in strange, high-risk balls few would ever try. He bends his game to suit any striker, whether the focus falls on Rin Itoshi or Ryusei Shido, and Loki counts him an essential partner on the road to becoming the world's best. His passing accuracy lets him fire fast, exact balls into spaces others cannot even reach, tuned to the quirks of each teammate. That precision spawns several signature deliveries: the Sky Arch Pass, whose heavy backspin curls the ball upward and off its expected path at the last moment; the Rabona Cross, which baits defenders wide before chipping a rabona into a contested spot; and the Gremlin Shot, where he reads an ally's pass through Metavision, cuts in and finishes it himself, as he did to open the scoring against France's rivals.
