Summary

With the scoreboard deadlocked at two goals each, Hiori drives into the danger area while the opposition tries to read him. Niko, Aryu, and Aiku all assume the ball is destined for Isagi and that Kaiser is lurking to pick off any such delivery. Niko lunges for a steal, but Hiori's touches leave him grasping at air. Because Hiori keeps his eyes fixed on the ball rather than his partner, Aiku decides the playmaker means to finish the move himself, a read Lorenzo shares as he rushes in for a double press. Hiori then wrong-foots Lorenzo's sliding challenge with a feint and shrugs off Baro, who mocks him as a lapdog unable to act without Isagi in view.

Branding his markers fools, Hiori shields the ball, and everyone on the field notices that the two friends refuse to even glance toward one another. He unloads a strike carrying the venom of a genuine shot, and in that instant both he and Isagi mentally overlay their private images of the world's greatest player until the two pictures fuse. Isagi bursts goalward without once tracking the ball sailing behind him, and as its arc dips it settles perfectly onto his boot for a first-time finish that beats Fukaku clean. The pair erupt in celebration, promising to reunite somewhere past the far edge of their dreams.
