Summary
Ness gathers the ball Kunigami had knocked loose and, boxed in by Tokimitsu and Zantetsu, quickly releases it to Grim. Grim lofts a long cross toward Kaiser, who is being hounded by Karasu. Shido darts in to cut it out despite Kunigami dragging at him, and Kunigami works the ball to Raichi, but Charles pounces the moment it hits Raichi's chest, jeering that he is nothing more than a bulky shield built for shoving.
Alarmed to see Charles carrying the ball, Hiori struggles for an answer. Convinced he cannot match Charles's imagination, he casts his rival as a late-stage videogame boss, deciding he may have to fail again and again before landing the right approach, a thought that oddly steadies his confidence. Rin calls for the ball while shadowed by Isagi, yet Charles dismisses him as dull and slips past, having used him as pure bait, a trick Hiori had already predicted and mocked aloud. Charles insists Hiori remains a beat behind and swings an outside cross toward Shido, only for Kunigami to intercept once more, stunning nearly everyone, Charles included.
