Summary

Bachira marks Japan's first goal with a backflip before the story jumps back forty-four days. Ego had sent him to coach at a local elementary school, and his instinct-led order to simply juggle the ball baffles the children. Realizing his own sense of the game is not theirs, he reframes it as letting the ball drop to their dominant foot and catching the bounce, and the youngsters quickly manage it. Bachira grasps that Ego designed the task to sharpen his inner feel by forcing him to put his instincts into words.

Key Events

Back in the match, Onazi marvels at Bachira even as Nigeria regroup. Kuso dribbles past Bachira and reshapes the attack so Onazi can receive clear of Isagi, but Aryu shuts the ace down with a new skill drawn from judo training that lets him read an opponent's body and eyeline. Forced to recycle the ball to Kuso, Nigeria run into Niko, whose bulked-up frame absorbs the smaller man's charge, the fruit of training meant to build a body worthy of his mind.

Niko strips the ball and launches it far upfield to Reo, and as Kuso mistakes Isagi for the linchpin of the counter, Reo mirrors Bachira to spark a combination.
