Summary

Blocked by Isagi, Baro flicks the ball with his heel to breeze past him, the trick freezing Isagi's reaction. He then threads nutmegs through Kuon and Imamura before firing home, with Iemon powerless in the Team Z goal.

His side cheers, yet Baro insists the goal was never about camaraderie; his teammates exist only to make him gleam, and he alone is the true king. Across the pitch Team Z fractures, Igaguri berating Iemon while Kuon tries to settle everyone and Raichi pins the trouble on Isagi, ordering him to stay back on defense.

When play restarts, Isagi calls for Bachira, but Igaguri cuts out the pass, hungry to be the one who advances. Sanga robs Igaguri, and his teammate Morinaga urges him to rally behind Baro since Team Z is clearly crumbling. From there Team X slots into shape, players sorting themselves into defense and midfield. As Team Z crowds Baro, he backheels to Sanga, who sets up Meiji for a second goal. Watching his own side squabble while their rivals bond, Isagi sees how Baro anchors Team X and acts as a compass for the rest, and he wonders whether this is what Ego meant about rebuilding the sport from nothing.

With the clock nearly spent and Team X cruising five to nil, Bachira floats the idea that the two of them might sneak a single goal now that their opponents have grown complacent. Isagi is willing to try.
