History

Madoka's past includes a drunken kiss planted on him by Himeno. In the Eternity Devil arc he turns up at a welcome party thrown for Special Division 4's fresh recruits, where he puts in an order for a trio of parfaits and three trays of shiratama dumplings. The Katana Man arc places him among the hunters marked for death when the Gun Devil's faction moves to wipe out Public Safety's Special Divisions; gunmen open fire on him and his partner in plain daylight. He lives through it and regroups with Makima, Tendo, and Kurose.

Acting as a messenger, Madoka passes along orders from the leadership that a shortage of personnel will fold Divisions 1, 2, and 3 into Division 4, now answering to Makima. With the message delivered, he tenders his resignation, reasoning that the division has grown too dark and that the only paths left are quitting or dying. Makima accepts and departs; when he tries to ask how much of the disaster she had foreseen, she sidesteps the question on the grounds that he is no longer her subordinate. His own abilities stay a mystery, but simply outliving an attack that killed most of his colleagues marks him as far from ordinary.
