History
Before the story begins, Pochita consumes the devil, and with it nuclear weapons disappear from the world. That loss drives Yoru, one of the Four Horsemen, to hunt the Chainsaw Man, set on forcing him to disgorge the weapons she craves. During the War Devil arc, Yoru learns that conflict has broken out between the United States and the Soviet Union, with the American side loosing a devastating atomic weapon against several Soviet cities; built around atomic energy and first meant for use on devils, it is turned instead toward ending the war. The spectacle finally jogs her memory of nuclear arms. She concludes that Pochita never coughed the devil back up, and that mankind simply reinvented the weapons from nothing. As a fear-born devil, it is implied to wield enormous destructive force, though its specific powers remain unknown.
