Summary

As Asa slips from the railing, Yoru tells her to cry out Nail Knife. Her fingernail tears free and becomes a blade, and the resulting pain blots out her fear long enough for Yoru to take over. Immune to the warped gravity, Yoru drops safely to the ground, instructs Asa to dwell on the hurt, and works out that they face the Falling Devil, likely with Fami behind it.

Spotting another flashback creeping in, Yoru slashes her own hand expecting it to ward off Asa's terror, but the act backfires and Asa grows frightened of her instead. Yoru ducks beneath a building before control slips, so they will not plunge into Hell when gravity reverses. The two then quarrel: Yoru resents the lack of trust, while Asa argues she owes none to a stranger who says unsettling things, hijacks her body at will, and has just cut her open.

When Yoru blames the despair on the devil's influence, Asa snaps that a mind-reader should already know her fear. She confesses it is loneliness; she craves company yet dreads how every attempt at closeness sours and strands her alone again, leaving Yoru without an answer. Elsewhere, the Falling Devil has slaughtered a band of hunters, sparing one to plate as a dish she calls De Root Atelanta for Hell's guests, then announces the main course will be Asa and Yoru themselves.
