Like Edward, Appledelhi lives almost entirely inside his own preoccupations, his thoughts running along a track most people cannot follow. He is buoyant and full of restless cheer, yet strangely disconnected from those around him. His assistant's name never sticks, no matter how many corrections he receives, and his own daughter fares little better: he misplaced her at a daycare and only went searching long afterward. Reunited at last, he cannot recall whether Edward is a son or a daughter, floats the idea of bringing her along on his travels, then bolts the instant a fresh meteor strikes the horizon.

Through the 2060s, Appledelhi devoted himself to mapping how Earth's surface was being reshaped by relentless rock showers, aided by an assistant named Macintire whose name he could never quite retain. Edward had been born in 2058, and though he loved her, his work swallowed him whole; he left her at a daycare center in 2064 and simply forgot. Years of searching eventually led him in 2071 to the very orphanage she had drifted into, but by then she was long gone, so he entrusted Sister Clara with a holographic likeness of himself in case she returned.

Two months on, a bounty drew Spike and Jet after him. During the pursuit the Bebop unexpectedly touched down right where he stood, piloted there by Edward herself. Overjoyed at the reunion, Appledelhi invited his daughter to join his mapping expeditions, only for the exchange to end as abruptly as it began when another meteor slammed down and he hurried off after it with Macintire in tow.
