Cosmetic doctor

The show identifies this man only by his trade, listing him in the credits under the plain title of Doctor. He runs a small practice that doubles as a place to treat stray animals, but the series supplies no closer look at his features beyond his role as a cosmetic surgeon.

Resentment drives much of what he does, since a client once left him bruised and unpaid for his work. When bounty hunters later come knocking with questions he would rather dodge, he turns cautious and evasive, insisting he knows nothing and busies himself with the cats in his care.

The doctor once reshaped the face of Abdul Hakim through plastic surgery, only to be beaten and cheated out of his fee when the job was done. After a bounty is placed on Hakim, the wronged physician passes along what he knows to Spike Spiegel, half-hoping the hunter will rough his old client up in return.

He surfaces again when Spike and Jet Black seek treatment after Jet takes a bullet from a Red Dragon crime syndicate gunman at the Loser Bar. Wary of getting tangled in syndicate business, the doctor waves off their talk entirely, claiming he understands none of it and that his real work is simply looking after stray cats.
