History
Before the story opens, Katerina flees her father Ellis Montgomery, who slaps a bounty on her to force a return. She travels with Asimov to El Ray, silently protesting as he doses himself with Red Eye and cuts down the Syndicate men who follow.
Later, Spike lights her cigarette and notes her supposed pregnancy, and Faye soon reveals she is really Montgomery's hunted daughter. The couple bolts. Cornered at a mechanic's shop, a Syndicate bullet catches Katerina in the belly, exposing that the pregnancy is a ruse hiding vials of Red Eye. With a mortally wounded Asimov beside her, she runs for the warp gate, where the stationed police gun her down.
