Rengie

Rengie surfaces in only one story, and no detailed description of his features is on record. He presents as an ordinary grown man, unremarkable enough to move through a convenience store without drawing suspicion, which suits someone whose former trade was guarding places like it.

A streak of discontent defines him. After years on the lawful side of the security business, Rengie soured on the work and slid into theft, turning the alarm expertise he had built into a tool for beating it. He also proves talkative to a fault, pausing in the middle of a robbery to recount his life story to a store clerk.

Rengie once held a job with a security firm before frustration pushed him toward crime, and he began exploiting the very safeguards his employer installed for its clients. That earned him a bounty. In 2071 he and several partners hit a Martian convenience store protected by that familiar system. While one accomplice slipped off to the restroom, Rengie unloaded his backstory onto the cashier, never noticing that Spike Spiegel and Jet Black had arrived. Spike sat nearby wearing headphones and looking oblivious, but the pose was bait, and Rengie was dropped by a sudden blow. Police collected the entire gang.
