Sally Yung

Warm and nostalgic, Sally holds tight to the memory of a friend she believed long gone. When she recognizes Faye, she reaches out despite half-fearing she is looking at a ghost, eager to reconnect.

Sally and Faye were classmates back in the early twenty-first century, close enough to record videos together on beta cassettes. Sally later heard that Faye had boarded a space shuttle lost to a terrible accident, and that she had been placed in cold storage to await a future cure. Life carried on for Sally: she married, raised children, and in time had grandchildren, among them a young girl. In 2071, out with that grandchild, she noticed Faye beside the same lion fountain from their youth and knew her at once. Reaching out even while doubting her own eyes, Sally began recounting the accident when it became plain that Faye had no memory of her. Faye abruptly walked off, leaving Sally to watch her go in bewilderment.
