VT is a woman in her mid-forties with blue eyes and blonde hair. Her Slavic name and hairstyle cast her as an older tribute to Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman ever to travel into space.

Although she loved her husband dearly, VT came to loathe the bounty-hunting life that eventually killed him, branding everyone in that line of work lowlife scum. To bury any link to the famous Ural, she introduces herself only by her initials, and she happily plays along with the running wager among fellow truckers over who can guess her real name. Her cat Zeros travels everywhere at her side and is nearly as recognized within the trucking community as she is.

VT frequently stops at Mac's Diner between hauls. On one visit she found the place crowded with bounty hunters chasing an explosives smuggler named Decker, and when they began hassling Muriel, she stepped in to defend her. The confrontation erupted into a brawl, and Spike Spiegel, also present, joined the fight on her side. The two hit it off until she discovered that he too hunted bounties for a living.

She later set aside her distaste and called on Spike after learning from Otto about a customer who had stiffed the diner and sped off, recognizing the culprit as Decker. Following Spike into the Linus Mine, she watched Decker's attempt to blow up her ship rebound and kill him instead. With his vessel threatening to ignite the entire mine, she teamed with Spike and Faye Valentine to stop the disaster, and their gamble held. Spike finally cracked the long-running name puzzle after spotting Ural's photograph aboard her ship, winning the bet.
