The Tapeworm Hollow is an anime-only monster with a parasite's approach to feeding. Instead of hunting souls in the open, it burrows into human bodies to drain them from within, a habit that draws it into a clash with Kon and Ichigo Kurosaki in Karakura Town.
Stripped of a host, the Tapeworm Hollow resembles a skeletal, worm-shaped creature. Its skull-like mask bares a grinning row of teeth set beneath its eyes, and the reverse side of its head carries a second face, with bulging red eyes marked by spirals and an opening from which smaller worm-things wriggle free. When it seized a tall, blue-haired man for a host, that body cut an elegant figure: side-combed curls, blue eyes, red earrings, and a matching white coat and trousers.
The Tapeworm Hollow is ruled by relentless hunger. Rather than swallowing souls whole like most of its kind, it slips inside living hosts to siphon their essence, a method Rukia notes it had already used on six separate victims scattered across Karakura Town. That craving tips into something unhinged: the instant it overhears Haruko musing aloud about wanting to die, it moves to kill her without a moment's pause.
The Hollow's hunt begins when it catches Haruko voicing a wish to die. Wearing the body of a blue-haired man, it approaches and offers to grant that wish, then sheds the disguise to bare its true shape and lunges to claim her. Kon steps in, booting the creature off a cliff, but it simply seeks out Haruko's boyfriend, Ken, and slips into him instead. Using that new body it corners Haruko again and, with a kiss, worms its way inside her. Kon batters the possessed girl hard enough to force the parasite back out, whereupon the Hollow swells to full size and turns on him directly. Its powers run to possession of the spiritually gifted, whose souls it drains slowly and unnoticed, along with claws and arms it can stretch from a host to strike or seize at range, plus the strength and agility to fling Kon around. The fight turns when Kon's Soul Candy is jarred loose from Ichigo Kurosaki's body; recognizing Kon as a Modified Soul, the Hollow closes in to eat him, only for Ichigo to arrive in time and finish it with a Getsuga Tenshō.
