Bazookas hang across Curiel's back, two of them strapped in place. He cuts an imposing figure: broad, powerfully built, and tall. Square spectacles tinted purple sit on his face, and a watermelon-print bucket hat covers his head, paired with headphone-like ear guards. A purple version of the Whitebeard mark is inked onto his chin. His outfit is a sleeveless green coat over a faded pink shirt, with spotted brown-and-green military trousers tucked into his boots.

Like his fellow division leaders, Curiel holds fierce loyalty toward Whitebeard. Facing Moria, he declared he would let neither his captain nor his comrade Ace meet death. He ranks among the braver commanders, having personally taken on a Warlord and then an Admiral over the course of the battle.

Commanding the 10th division grants Curiel authority over its pirates, and his reputation precedes him; Gecko Moria recognized him on sight. He is remarkably tough, enduring a direct strike from Akainu's magma powers. Firearms are his specialty, and he handles his guns and bazookas with skill, carrying at least two of each. The anime gives his pistols rapid-fire capability and pinpoint aim, shown when he tore apart Moria's Brick Bats in a single burst.
