Appearance

Standing at 306 cm, Sakazuki ranks among the tallest and most heavily built of the former admirals, with a square jaw, sharp features, and cropped black hair. Before the timeskip he favored a crimson double-breasted suit worn over an unbuttoned floral shirt, skipping a tie and adding black gloves, dark shoes, and a pink rose at his lapel. A large black tattoo of flame-edged flowers spreads from his left shoulder down across his ribs and back, while a smaller sword-shaped mark sits on his right arm. In his younger Marine years he kept an open red shirt and carried a katana.

The duel with Kuzan on Punk Hazard left lasting marks: scarring runs along the right side of his neck and face, part of his right ear is gone, and he later grew out a mustache and goatee. He gave up the red suit for a white outfit reminiscent of Sengoku's, kept the same patterned shirt beneath it, dropped the gloves, and took to smoking cigars.

Personality

Few Marines cling to Absolute Justice as tightly as Sakazuki, who sums up his creed as Thorough Justice and pursues it without flexibility or pity. Grim, blunt, and emotionally cold, he earned a reputation as the harshest of the pre-timeskip admirals. During the assault on Ohara he ordered an escape vessel carrying civilians and soldiers destroyed on the mere chance a single scholar might be aboard, an act that revolted Kuzan. He treats desertion as a capital offense and once melted a fleeing soldier alive, sparing him only the dishonor of shaming his family.

His loathing falls hardest on pirates and criminals, whom he refuses to credit with any virtue, and his pride in the Marine name drives him to bury anything that makes the organization look weak. That same rigidity makes him fixate on bloodlines: he marks both Ace and Luffy for death purely because of their fathers, hunting Luffy across the Marineford battlefield even as Blackbeard tore the base apart.

Abilities

As Fleet Admiral, Sakazuki holds complete operational authority over the Marines, answering only to the Five Elders and the Commander-in-Chief. He can call down a Buster Call, redeploy admirals, hand out or revoke Warlord status, and reshape policy at will; among his early moves was relocating the Marines' central base to the New World. Cross Guild has placed a bounty of 5,000,000,000 Berries on him, eclipsing the figures attached to the admirals or even Garp.

He devoured the Magu Magu no Mi. This Logia fruit lets him become, generate, and direct magma, a substance reputed to deliver the highest attack power of any Devil Fruit. He commonly turns his arms to magma for body-piercing punches, enlarges them into massive fists, or rains down meteor-like volleys with Ryusei Kazan. Decades of fighting prove his raw might and endurance: he traded blows with Whitebeard, withstood quake-charged punches that split Marineford, killed Ace, and outlasted Kuzan over ten days on Punk Hazard, a clash so fierce it left half the island permanently ablaze. He also commands both Armament and Observation Haki.
