History

Shiroba pulls over Kyosuke Higuchi, who is racing toward Sakura TV to stop Matsuda from exposing him as Kira. While pretending to search for his license, Higuchi uses his Shinigami Eyes to read the officer's name and enters it in the Death Note, then tears away once more. Shiroba sets off after him and is killed in the crash that follows, slamming into a truck. The unexplained death leads L to deduce that Higuchi can kill merely by seeing a face, prompting him to tighten the plan for the suspect's capture. Shiroba fills the same role in the 2015 television drama, where he carries a different name and his lifespan is shown. His written name is even a pun, reading as police bike in a nod to his profession.
