Ryo

Ryo keeps his brown hair cut close. A striped shirt in green and black, finished with a white collar, makes up his usual outfit, and a pair of dark-rimmed glasses sits across his face.

The glimpses of Ryo show a boy worn down by his circumstances. He absorbs shakedowns from a classmate without fighting back, and his temper surfaces mainly as exasperation, the kind he vents aloud whenever the people meant to look after him fail to show up.

Ryo first appears as a target for a student named Sudou, who along with a friend strong-arms him out of his money. The mistreatment briefly tempts Light to write Sudou's name down, but Light talks himself out of it, reasoning that killing someone within his own circle would be reckless. Later the same boy is left stranded after class, fuming that his mother is running late. The manga returns to him once more, a year past Light's death, where he flings his books to the ground and rages that his father never came for him.
