Mantis Demon

The Mantis Demon blends human and insect features. It keeps a largely human head, torso, and legs, but its arms warp into green, mantis-like forelegs from the elbow down, ending in sharp serrated blades. Four more green segmented limbs sprout from its back, giving it added agility and balance.

Its black hair stands in sharp contrast to its pale blue eyes, which carry slitted pupils.

Like many demons, the Mantis Demon is both cunning and ferocious. It favors ambush tactics, dropping onto its prey from hidden perches such as a ceiling to strike before they can react. Yet it also respects the danger that Demon Slayers pose, and when it finds itself pressured or outmatched, it will readily flee rather than stand its ground.

Thanks to its unusual physiology, the Mantis Demon is stronger than most ordinary humanoid demons, enough of a threat that the Corps assigned the Kamado siblings to deal with it. Still, against a seasoned slayer like Tanjiro it proved no real match and was defeated with relative ease.

As a demon it heals conventional wounds within seconds, swiftly regrowing severed legs and repairing damage to its face. Its many limbs grant it exceptional speed and acrobatic agility, letting it dodge attacks and move in rapid, unpredictable leaps that make it hard to track. In combat it lunges with its serrated forelegs, capable of cutting through flesh and bone.
