Megumi Toyoguchi

In Ufotable's "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," Toyoguchi voices Ruka Rengoku, the late mother of Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, a tender yet resolute figure whose teachings shape her son's sense of duty. The part draws on the emotional range Toyoguchi has cultivated since beginning her career in 1997, complementing the wide variety of leading characters she has played across anime and games. Though brief in screen time, Ruka's appearances carry significant weight in the series, and the role sits comfortably among her many maternal and strong-willed characterizations.

Toyoguchi has voiced numerous starring anime roles, including Yao Sakurakouji in Miami Guns, Ran Kotobuki in Super Gals!, Winry Rockbell in the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime, Sei Sato in Maria-sama ga Miteru, Dawn in Pokémon, Revy in Black Lagoon, Ellen Kurokawa/Cure Beat in Suite Precure, and Miriallia Haw in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and its sequel Gundam SEED Destiny. In video games she has performed as Paine in Final Fantasy X-2, Junko Enoshima in Danganronpa, Rosie in Valkyria Chronicles, Yukari Takeba in Persona 3, which was later adapted into a film series, and Aqua in Kingdom Hearts. This breadth has made her a durable presence in Japanese voice work across more than two decades.
