Billy Kametz

Kametz supplied the English voice of Rui in "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" (studio Ufotable). The role sat among a substantial body of anime dubbing work that defined his career, joining a roster of prominent leading parts he took on during a relatively short but busy span as a performer. His portrayal added to a reputation built on voicing memorable figures across Japanese animation adapted for English-speaking audiences.

Born on March 22, 1987, Kametz launched his voice acting career in 2016 and quickly became a familiar presence in anime and video game dubbing. He gave English voices to Josuke Higashikata in "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable," Takuto Maruki in "Persona 5 Royal," Naofumi Iwatani in "The Rising of the Shield Hero," Colt in "Brawl Stars," and Ferdinand von Aegir in the "Fire Emblem" series. These leading and supporting roles established him as one of the more recognizable English dub actors of his generation.

Beyond his screen and game credits, Kametz also worked as a stage actor, performing in live theater alongside his dubbing career. He died of colorectal cancer on June 9, 2022, at the age of 35, bringing an early end to a career that had grown steadily prominent over roughly six years.
