Starscream

Angel-Scream keeps a silhouette recognizably close to Starscream's old body while layering Angel traits over it. His fingers stretch far beyond their former length, his shoulders reshape into forms echoing the Fourth Angel, his cockpit section turns completely black, and an Angel mask sits embedded in his chest. Judging by the first illustration, the body he seized belongs to the Fourth Angel of the Rebuild films. Like every Angel, the hybrid carries a core, and it proves to be his fatal weak point.

Death changes nothing about Starscream's ambition. Inside the stolen Angel body he keeps his personality and his full memory, including his execution at Galvatron's hands, and he remains capable of speech, planning, and strategy. His hunger for power is undimmed; mid-battle he boasts that once the Autobot leader dies, the Decepticons will be his, and the universe after them. Possessing other beings as a ghost is nothing new for him, a habit with a long pedigree in the Transformers series.

The Autobots reach Tokyo-3 aboard Sky Lynx, hoping to stop an Angel and head off another Second Impact, only to find Starscream's ghost already wearing one as Angel-Scream. At NERV, Misato Katsuragi scrambles Evangelion Unit-01 and pulls the city back. Optimus Prime marvels at human technology, and sensing that the Eva is no ordinary robot, he scans Unit-01 and expands into an Eva-sized configuration called Optimus Prime: EVA Mode to meet the enemy on equal footing.

Angel-Scream opens with an energy blast that Optimus intercepts to shield Unit-01, then shrugs off Prime's blaster fire behind an A.T. Field. Seizing Optimus by the throat, he hammers at the Autobot's helmet until it cracks. The remaining Transformers can do nothing against something so large, but Wheeljack picks up a transmission from Misato: Unit-01 has stopped responding, the finish is theirs, and she has a strategy for them.

Bumblebee circles the giant's feet as a provocation until Angel-Scream, trying to stomp him, loses his balance and topples. On Misato's cue the transforming buildings of Tokyo-3 pin the enemy to the ground. Optimus tears free of the grip, and when his punch cannot crack the A.T. Field, he switches to his Energon axe. The blade cuts through and connects, shattering the core, which erupts in a burst of blood and hurls Starscream's ghost out of the body.
