The software mirrors the physical machine's ball drops, reel stops, and bonus routines so players can study its odds and hit patterns at home, with the same Evangelion cutscenes and animations that play on the real cabinet during winning sequences.

This is the twelfth PlayStation 2 volume in D3 Publisher's Kouryaku Series, again paired with a same-named Nintendo DS release, continuing the dual-platform pattern set by the prior volume. It represents one of the last Evangelion titles in the series before the property largely shifted to newer pachinko hardware in the years that followed.

The PlayStation 2 version released in Japan on June 26, 2008, with the Nintendo DS version following on June 12, 2008. Both stayed Japan-only, and surviving documentation is limited mostly to secondhand marketplace listings and retro-game databases rather than press coverage.
