Earth Defense Band
CharacterTokyo-3 Middle School students form their own musical group in two Sega Saturn Evangelion games. With Shinji on keys, Hikari and Mayumi sharing vocals, and Kensuke writing the songs, the band offers the pilots a rare stretch of ordinary teenage life.
Overview
The Earth Defense Band (Chikyū Bōei Bando) is a student music project founded at Tokyo-3 Middle School. It exists only in the game continuity, debuting in the Sega Saturn title Neon Genesis Evangelion and returning in its follow-up, Neon Genesis Evangelion: Second Impression.
Role
Across the two games the group performs a pair of original numbers, "Kiseki no Senshi Evangelion" and "Kimi ga, Kimi ni Umareta Wake". Kensuke Aida handles lyrics and composition on top of his drumming duties, making him the creative engine behind the band's material.
Notable Members
Shinji Ikari plays keyboard, Tōji Suzuhara covers guitar, and Kensuke Aida sits behind the drums while doubling as songwriter. Vocals are split between Hikari Horaki and Mayumi Yamagishi. NERV bridge operator Shigeru Aoba lends his experience as the group's guitar adviser.
