A proposed heavy-armor conversion of Unit-02 in the ANIMA continuity, abandoned before completion. Built around fixed arm-mounted curved swords rather than exotic cannons, it is the close-combat member of the Type F family that never reached a real battlefield.
First shown in Dengeki Hobby Magazine and later detailed in the Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA Visual Book, this proposal reimagines Unit-02 with reinforced plating specialized for fighting at knife range. Unlike its Unit-00 and Unit-01 counterparts, the conversion misses its window and never joins the battle against the Mass Production Evangelions.
Because it forgoes exotic armament such as the Impact Bolt or the Angel's Backbone, maintenance stays simple, and its armored restraints can in some situations be replaced on-site. An N² reactor was slated as its power plant. The massive armor shields the frame at the cost of speed relative to the original Unit-02, yet the design still expects to dominate up close by concentrating the A.T. Field along its blades.
Twin ATF Curved Swords sit fixed on both arms, counted as armor components rather than serialized weapons, and their presence generally rules out rifles and other long-range firearms. Doctrine slots the unit into melee while Unit-00 Type F snipes from extreme distance and Unit-01 Type F covers the middle band with its Impact Bolt. A large two-handed blade, the Bizen Osafune, serves as its special weapon.
Development began with SEELE's Evangelions in mind, but concern over the pilot's mental state pushed resources toward Unit-01's Type F and the rebuilding of Unit-00', and SEELE's Instrumentality plan moved ahead using Unit-02 itself as catalyst in place of Unit-01, ending the project. Pachinko adaptations give the design its only screen time: Asuka carves through the Tenth Angel's layered A.T. Fields at close range while Rei and Shinji supply the long-range fire.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....

No, development stalled after resources shifted toward Unit-01's Type F equipment and the rebuilding of Unit-00', so Unit-02 Type F was never completed or deployed in the story proper, appearing only in pachinko adaptations.
Asuka Langley Sohryu is the intended pilot of Unit-02 Type F, with Kyoko Zeppelin Sohryu's soul residing in its core.
Unit-02 Type F is designed as the close-combat member of the Type F family, complementing Unit-00 Type F's extreme-range sniping and Unit-01 Type F's mid-range Impact Bolt.
