Shinkalion 500 TYPE EVA (CW)

This iteration of the Shinkalion 500 TYPE EVA belongs to the Plarail Shinkalion CW toyline, which spins off the series Shinkalion: Change the World. The Evolution Railway Development Agency operates the machine, and Shinji Ikari serves as its designated crew member. As with earlier versions, its basis is the 500 TYPE EVA, the Evangelion-branded shinkansen created jointly with West Japan Railway Company.

Transformation turns the train into a 21 meter, 50 ton humanoid whose chest retains the distinctive nose cone of its Shinkansen Mode. The robot's overall proportions echo the 500 Kodama and its head shares that train's basic design, though a special mask styled after Evangelion Test Type-01's face conceals most of it. Purple dominates the inner frame, matching the original 500 TYPE EVA, and the classic Unit-01 palette of purple and green with black detailing covers the body alongside the familiar helmet and collar motifs.

Docking with the ERDA Positron Rifle converts the machine into the Shinkalion 500 TYPE EVA Positron Form.

Shinji Ikari crews the unit under the Evolution Railway Development Agency. In merchandise form, TAKARA TOMY released the Plarail Shinkalion CW 500 TYPE EVA Positron Form set on 6 December 2025 at 7,920 yen, packaging this robot together with the ERDA Positron Rifle and the combined Positron Form.
