The Type 3 Kiryū EVA Unit-01 Color Ver. is a mainstay recolor of the GODZILLA vs EVANGELION collaboration. Its body is the Mechagodzilla Type 3 introduced on film in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, while its livery mirrors the Evangelion Test Type-01 of the Rebuild continuity.

Bandai announced the first product on 1 June 2016, a 32cm toy in the Toho 30cm series billed as the Type 3 Kiryū Heavy Arms 2002 Edition in EVA-01 color, released that December at 29,160 yen with tax. Aoshima later produced a 240mm plastic model in PS, ABS, and PVC for the EVA GLOBAL store, announced on 5 March 2021 at 23,100 yen before tax and sold from June 2021.
On 17 March 2023 the design appeared as a Kiryū skin in Godzilla Battle Line during the Godzilla X EVA: Tokyo Battle event, and on 23 December 2023 it featured in the PC11 BS Premium Card Set for the Battle Spirits collaboration. Bandai returned in April 2024 with a soft vinyl Movie Monster Series figure, about 165mm tall at 4,950 yen, released in September 2024. PLEX followed in October 2025 with a super deformed 4cm soft vinyl in the GODZILLA vs. EVANGELION Mini Sofvi Chronicle line, offered alongside a clear glitter variation.

Its newest incarnation is a 9cm Gekizo Series / HYPER MODELING miniature built from the 2023 set that sourced both the 2002 Kiryū and the 2003 Kiryū (Kai). Sculpted by 渡辺結樹 (G-tempest) with coloring by 下村広泰 and 増島凪冴, it released in June 2026 at 3,278 yen per figure or 13,112 yen for the boxed set, and a metallic limited edition sold through GODZILLA STORE, Premium Bandai, Tokyo Figure, and the Art Spirits online shop.
