Xeno Rex Test Type-01

Xeno Rex Test Type-01 is a toy patterned after Evangelion Test Type-01, released through the EVANGELION 30th Anniversary x ZOIDS T-SPARK collaboration. TAKARA TOMY developed the figure for its SYNERGENEX series under the full title Multipurpose Beast-type Decisive Weapon Xeno Rex Test Type-01. The company announced it on 14 May 2025 and displayed an unpainted prototype at the Shizuoka Hobby Show; reservations began 03 July 2025, with release set for late February 2026 at a manufacturer's price of 6,600 yen including tax.

The accompanying lore describes a Xeno Rex regenerated from its core and turned into a weapon by NERV, standing as the test-type machine of the agency's Xeno Rex program. Its resonance works with EVA Unit-01 alone. The beast can fight under a dedicated pilot or run in tandem with Unit-01 through the Xeno Rex Dummy System, though in battle it has roared and lost control. A transparent canopy sits in the creature's head, and its arsenal pairs two Pallet Rifles with two Progressive Knives built for Unit-01.

NERV fields the machine, crewed by Shinji Ikari alongside the Xeno Rex Dummy System. Its origin story begins with a mysteriously glowing, sphere-shaped metallic organism pulsing within the GeoFront below Tokyo-3, recovered long before from deep Antarctic strata among other metal skeletons. Designating the entity a Core, NERV studied its ability to pour out energy almost indefinitely and planned to turn it against the Angels, discovering that each Core's unique pulse resonated with just one Evangelion. Spare Eva components restored the organism to its true form, which NERV named the Multipurpose Beast-type Decisive Weapon Xeno Rex.
