YAGR-N101

The YAGR-N101 flies in the Rebuild of Evangelion continuity as NERV's dedicated command transport; its lengthy Japanese designation spells that role out, marking a VTOL reserved for moving the organization's commander. The type descends from the YAGR-3B, a UNAF platform built for close-in air support, and makes its formal debut in the franchise's third feature, Evangelion: 3.0, which carries the subtitle You Can (Not) Redo.

Kotobukiya produced a 1/100 scale plastic kit of the aircraft in mid April 2012, timed to that film's release, then brought the kit back in August 2020.

Set the N101 beside its predecessor and the differences nearly vanish. Lift comes from paired thrusters mounted on the wings, rotating between a vertical lift position and level cruise once airborne. The fuselage is narrow but boxy, carrying two cockpits at the nose: the larger sits dorsally while a smaller station tucks underneath. Landing gear retracts into a pair of pods flanking the belly, and one further set stows deeper in the body toward the tail.

Every YAGR-N101 shown belongs to NERV. Chronologically the craft is seen first during Evangelion: 2.0, the film subtitled You Can (Not) Advance: moments before the Seventh Angel strikes, one carries Gendo Ikari away from the gravesite of his wife Yui and delivers him to NERV HQ. After Near Third Impact, NERV adopts the type as the standard replacement for the outgoing YAGR-3B.
