Yoma Hashimoto

Yoma is a young Japanese man with an athletic build, light hair worn in an ordinary cut with a few unexplained dark strands showing through, and looks striking enough to draw a modeling scout. Once he throws himself into training, his physique swells dramatically, each muscle sharpening and growing defined, until the bulk begins to take on the shape of wings.

Fresh off landing his modeling and acting jobs, Yoma starts as a self-assured young man pouring effort into his body. That drive curdles into an all-consuming fixation: he binds himself to a rigid regimen of a protein-only diet and a seven o'clock bedtime, flies into anger over the smallest disruption to it, and even rigs a bouldering course across his girlfriend's building so he can train while simply getting around. The obsession eventually leads him to kill his girlfriend, his usual deliveryman, and a stranger who cost him his trainer, each of them having interfered with his routine. When his standing treadmill contest with Rohan Kishibe threatens to expose him, he twists it into a life-or-death match under the pretense of making it fair.

As the self-styled Avatar of Hermes, Yoma is granted a supernaturally capable body that gains muscle at an impossible rate. He can dash backward at 20 km/h or fling a 20 kg dumbbell one-handed while running without effort, sprouts wing-like muscles when he pushes himself, and can even perceive Stands, as shown when he glimpses the pages laid bare by Rohan's Heaven's Door.

Scouted for his looks, Yoma landed a magazine spread and a bit part in a film, once spotting the actors Takeru Satoh and Gō Ayano from afar. After his manager urged him to build his frame, he began training in earnest at the eighth-floor gym of the Morioh Grand Hotel, where he met Rohan and struck up a minor rivalry through a game of grabbing a small remote off adjacent treadmills. His progress amazed his trainer and girlfriend Mika, but he turned narcissistic and obsessive, packing her apartment with equipment, quarreling over his diet, and berating a deliveryman for ringing the bell at his seven o'clock bedtime. When his trainer was unavailable, he stole 270,000 yen from Mika to buy into a costly program and blanketed her building in a bouldering set; she broke up with him and told him to leave. Around then he murdered Mika, the deliveryman, and the other gym client, sealing their bodies in cement, while his muscles kept ballooning into wing shapes.

Meeting Rohan again, Yoma took the bait after being needled about his career, hurled a dumbbell through the window to make their game lethal, and broke three of Rohan's fingers to keep him from reaching the remote first. That opening let Rohan turn Yoma's arm into a book and scrawl a command. Yoma seized the remote and claimed victory, but the command compelled him to halt Rohan's treadmill, flinging himself backward out of the building; unable to catch the ledge, he only muttered Rohan's name as he fell. His ultimate fate is left unknown. Rohan believes his athletic gifts likely let him survive or cling to the facade, and, convinced Yoma is possessed by the god of muscle, Hermes, and may return for him, he resolves to run.
