Chocho Akimichi is a Konoha kunoichi of the Akimichi clan and, with Inojin and Shikadai, the newest link in the Ino-Shika-Cho line. Food-obsessed, boy-crazy, and endlessly self-assured, she counts Sarada Uchiha as her closest friend.
Chocho inherited her mother's amber eyes and dark skin, along with the fuller build common to the Akimichi, though she notably lacks the clan's facial swirls. Her brown hair, drawn orange or blonde in the manga, is gathered into two spiky ponytails held by a pink band, with the rest falling down her back and a fringe hanging across her left eye. Butterfly motifs recur throughout her wardrobe, from the sash of her sleeveless kimonos to the clips she later wears, and grey studs pierce both ears. As she grows older she fills out further and lets her hair grow long.
Nothing tempts Chocho like a meal, and she will ditch training without a shred of guilt to go eat. Where her father bristles at the word fat, she long shrugged it off entirely, though as she got older she began fussing over her looks and half-heartedly trying to slim down, efforts that collapsed against her own competitive streak whenever she and Choji turned eating into a contest. Struck by how little she resembled her parents, she jokingly decided she must be adopted and took to imagining that any impressive adult she met might be her real father. She is confident, laid-back, and a touch self-absorbed, a hopeless romantic who swoons easily over good-looking boys such as Kawaki and later Boruto, yet underneath it she is a warm and loyal friend, above all to Sarada.
Following her Kumogakure roots on her mother's side, Chocho wields Lightning Release, and she can pair her chakra with others in cooperative sealing formations to bind an opponent's movement. As an Akimichi she converts calories into chakra to fuel the clan's size-altering arts, managing the Partial Multi-Size Technique even before leaving the Academy and progressing to the Multi-Size Technique and Human Bullet Tank by her Chunin Exams. Her signature is Butterfly Mode, which she can hold for long stretches without resorting to the clan's Three Coloured Pills; though it first cost her power, she eventually learned to fuel it properly through sheer drive. At her sharpest she can trade blows with Sarada even as her friend calls on the Sharingan.
