Fugi

A grey tangzhuang buttoned to the collar formed Fugi's attire, its hem and sleeves picked out in yellow, worn with red trousers and black footwear. He kept his long dark hair gathered in a low ponytail and had eyes of deep purple, pointed ears, and four tear-trough lines running down his face.

Fugi presented a loyal face to Gaara while secretly working to end his life, yet he was not beyond conscience. He recognized talent, coming away impressed on hearing the young Kazekage had studied Bunpuku's mastery of currents. Convinced in the end that Gaara had genuinely changed, he was overcome by shame at his own betrayal and chose to answer for it himself.

Fugi could raise a Sandstorm Barrier from sand already present, using it to override rival barriers such as the Sensing Barrier and kicking up a blinding storm that stripped away an enemy's vision. He also carried a tantō, a sign of some training with the blade. Ahead of the Chūnin Exams he met with Hōichi and laid out a scheme to bind Shukaku inside a tea kettle, a ritual that required the Kazekage's death; word that Gaara had studied Bunpuku's control over currents left him impressed.

During the exams' second stage in the Demon Desert, Fugi threw up his barrier to smother the Sensing Barrier and cloak the area in swirling sand. When Gaara later reached him through a sand clone, Fugi understood that Hōichi had already been beaten. The Kazekage spoke to him of the redemption he sought after befriending Naruto Uzumaki and offered Fugi his own head if the words rang false. Persuaded that Gaara meant every syllable, Fugi was consumed by guilt over his part in the plot and ended his life by seppuku in atonement.
