Kunihisa

Kunihisa keeps his green hair short in a rounded bowl cut and looks out through pale eyes. He paints his face with clownish makeup and dresses in a blue suit set off by a red bow-tie.

To begin with, Kunihisa is a thoroughly spoiled boy who refuses to lift a finger unless his money can do the work for him, and he insists he is no mere child while inventing bogus techniques to look like a ninja. Naruto eventually pushes him to shed that selfishness, and the boy comes away with a warmer outlook, even thanking him for the lesson.

Because Kunihisa dreams of the ninja life, his father turns to his old friend Tsunade for a favour, and she assigns Naruto to humour the boy by playing ninja with him. Kunihisa shows off what he calls his Money Release technique, though it is really just theatrical seals he names things like the alligator or the bunny ears while his greedy guards charge in to do the real work. Naruto quickly wearies of the boy's arrogance and the contempt he shows those guards, arguing in vain that cash cannot fix everything.

Trouble comes when two kidnappers, Shinayakana and Fukuyokana, set their sights on him and simply buy off the bodyguards with the very coins Kunihisa had carelessly thrown away. Naruto slips clear with the boy, and cornered at the edge of a dark ravine he has to master his terror at last: with Naruto in danger, Kunihisa conquers both fear and selfishness to rescue him. The two dodge the plunge into the gorge, while the kidnappers and their bought helpers do not. Back in Konohagakure a changed Kunihisa thanks Naruto and invites him to call on him someday.
