Maroi

Tall and dark-skinned, Maroi keeps his brown hair cropped close on top while shaving the back of his head and letting a long ponytail hang down. Grey eyes and a beard round out his face. He dresses in a brown, high-collared top with frayed hems and yellow trim across the shoulders and sleeves, paired with green trousers, sandals, and a guard strapped over one knee.

His name suits him. Maroi is calm, good-humored, and even-keeled, so relaxed at times that he can come across as almost indifferent to the danger around him.

Maroi handles Lightning Release with skill, most notably firing off the Lightning Release: Lightning Signal Fire, and he can also shape jets of water through Water Release. His core ninja fundamentals are sound, covering taijutsu and the Transformation Technique, and his command of the Body Flicker Technique is sharp enough that he single-handedly whipped the prisoners into a riot by making them believe they were under attack from one another. He is quick-witted as well, recognizing Satori the instant it appeared and grasping natural energy and Sage Mode well enough to deduce that Naruto had used a shadow clone to gather it.

Inside Hōzuki Castle he worked his way into Mui's confidence, posing as a loyal aide and carrying out orders to seize prisoners. From the shadows he goaded Naruto into rebelling, engineered his stint in solitary where the young ninja could draw in natural energy, and staged the final uprising before the Box of Ultimate Bliss surfaced, signaling his comrades with a flare. In the end he stood revealed as part of a joint operation with Konoha to expose the impostor posing as Naruto and to make certain the box would never be used again.
